The exam in brief
- The PLIDA B1 has 4 tests: Ascoltare, Leggere, Scrivere and Parlare.
- Each test is worth 30 points and you need at least 18/30 in each.
- Tests you pass stay valid for 18 months: you retake only the ones you failed.
- It is one of the 4 certificates accepted for citizenship, with CILS, CELI and CERT.IT.
Why practise the format
Each part of the exam has a fixed task type: choose from 3 drawings, match people to descriptions, insert the missing passage, find the headline. If you already know the format, you spend the 40 minutes on the texts, not on the instructions. In our tests the instructions for each part are in Italian, as in the exam, with an English translation underneath.
